Useless
Useless. Found an injured Jackdaw in my driveway. Called RSPB who said do not touch it. they would assess the situation and maybe someone would call today or tomorrow. Absolute waste of time. My subscription and payments are cancelled immediately. They do not care one bit. Maybe i should have said it was an Eagle.

The online shop is a nightmare
The online shop is a nightmare. I have been trying to order seed and fat balls for 10 days, and each time the payment system fails. I get a message saying they are having problems because of extra bank security checks. I know for a fact these extra checks came in months ago, and other retailers have coped with them, but not RSPB.

After 8 days of trying on line and hanging on a phone until I gave up and hung up, I tried again today. Again I could not get through the payment system. Surely someone should have sorted it out by now! But, to add insult to injury, my loyalty funds, amounting to several pounds, I was going to use to offset the order have disappeared, even though no order has gone through!!!!!

No assistance from anyone on the phone. A less than helpful person saying about the loyalty points "I don't know what's happened there." Then "I know there are problems on the website, but I only come in to take orders, then go home, so I don't know." I wasn't going to trust my card details to such a dipstick, so I gave up.

I have now ordered similar products from somewhere else. After 50 years membership, and having done 20 years voluntary work for the RSPB, I am disgusted.

I have actually made a bequest in my will to the RSPB, but after the rubbish treatment I have received, the next time I review my will, the bequest will be deleted.

Wildlife Camera
I've been using this a few weeks now. The negatives are as already stated on other reviews. Despite the apparent 14 megapixel rating of the camera the actual photo quality is pretty poor. The camera itself says it's 36megapixel. So it must be poor lens quality as the definition isn't that great. It's alright for video but not great for photography.

The calendar needs to be reset everytime you switch the camera off. The picture coun and name starts from scratch each time so you need to rename all your photo's when downloading to avoid duplication of names.

The rubber bung beneath for the dc cable input never stays closed as others have commented.

The focal field of view is different for video and photo so that's something to be aware of when trying to frame and position your shots. i.e. where the camera is pointing and what's in field of view.

The sound quality is really good for video and pick up all surrounding sounds. It's the first one of these I've had so how it compare to cheaper models I do wonder as it's not exactly cheap.

Absolutely furious having been…
Absolutely furious having been contacted by a company called ethical no 0117 325 2842 . Basically begging for money would it be possible to give £10 and then would it be possible to give £8 and then would it be possible to just add £1 extra onto your current subscription.REALLY begging for money absolutely appalling behaviour by the RSPB . if the constant hounding keeps happening I will cancel my subscription.

RSPB FIVE STARS DESERVED!
Sue and the warehouse team were outstanding in terms of customer service. We had misplaced an RSPB previously purchased pair of binoculars- a birthday gift for bird-keen grandson. After phone contact yesterday on Friday afternoon, and all fingers crossed, a knock at the door at 8.30 am. today on Saturday morning as smiling Parcelforce guy delivered our replacement purchased pair of red Puffin bins! Brilliant! Thank you SO much, Sue and the RSPB Team. Can now happily attend his celebration today on his sixth birthday.

Found a helpless and very young sparrow…
Found a helpless and very young sparrow in our garden this morning and it was clearly not going to survive without the help of its parent or, as a last resort, human intervention. We were keen to follow best practice and quickly read up on the RSPB website what we should do. In short....nothing! Most importantly, after leaving for 2 hours to make sure a parent is not going to return, DO NOT CONTACT THE RSPB, they can't/won't help. If you really must contact somebody to save a bird's life, speak to the RSPCA instead who, it seems, do care and are are set up to help. Unsurprisingly, the young sparrow died.

Bird sanctuaries and nature reserves are wonderful and we'd be a poorer country without them - and the animals/birds that thrive within them. However, dare I suggest the RSPB could engage far more effectively with the wider population by raising funds to offer practical advice AND HELP for the birds people will encounter in their own gardens and everyday lives. Instead, it appears to be to be a self-serving empire builder, championing grandstand projects whilst side-stepping requests for practical, local help to save bird's lives, re-directing them to other charities. Shame on you RSPB, you need a re-think.

Poor products and customer service
Bought a fat ball and fat cake feeder with a small tin roof over to project from the rain. Unfortunately it is very poorly made. The roof is barely held on by a couple of bits of very thin tin, more like tin foil. This will not hold the weight of the fat balls when hung, so a bit useless really. Also, the door wouldn't shut. Emailed the Customer Service dept, sending pictures, and had an automated message saying someone would get back to me, which they haven't. Won't persue them, nor buy from them any more.
Edit:
Just received an email apology from RSPB offering a refund.

Worthy cause, spoilt by poor customer service
I joined the RSPB to support wildlife and have nice places to visit. It's better to join at a centre as it was £12 more online.
The reserve at Old Moor is lovely. The paths are nice and the hides and bins are well maintained.
The volunteers on entry seemed very trusting and didn't check my membership.
The cafe and shop look lovely. However goods are extremely pricey.
The cafe looks nice but we were served coffee from a non functional machine, which tasted like pond water. It took them 10 minutes to deliver it and I had to chase it twice, even though the place was not very busy. I gave polite feedback that it was undrinkable and was offered no apology and no refund of £5.40 for two coffees. Just grinned and laughed at me. Desperately need customer service training at this place. Now I understand why the cafe was empty. Very short sighted of them.
Update - RSPB continues to have a nice but overpriced shop. The cafe at Old moor is not very efficient customer service or serving wise but the coffee machine is now working and the coffee has improved.
The craft workshops and events website is really hard to access, but If you do it's worth it. I went on an excellent watercolour workshop and they also do some great other activities.
They are pretty hopeless however if you ring them for help with an at risk bird, which should I feel be one of their functions, especially given Rspca don't want to know or help with animal rescuing.

Poor
I ordered a piece of garden furniture from RSPB Sales on 22nd April that said “in stock”. That went to 5 weeks and as of 1st July it still hasn’t arrived, with no date given as to when it will. I find it ridiculous that they are still advertising them for sale. I wanted to support the Charity but after this I wish I had gone elsewhere.

Stephen from Customer Services
Stephen from Customer Services was excellent in dealing with a problem with a bird mug which cracked after putting hot water in it after the second use. He has immediately sent another mug, and hopefully this won't happen again!

Cheap and nasty bird bath (returned)
Purchased a bird bath from you, didn't look great in photos, but we took a chance, but when it arrived it was so cheap and nasty, looked terrible and then once returned we had to keep chasing for our refund (now refunded).

Great
All my items arrived on time and in tact- very pleased!
Had emailed Customer Service to ask if they could help with another item/issue and was just basically told flat out they couldn't which is why I'm only giving 4 stars. Would recommend.
